Democrats & the mainstream media have attempted to utilize the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s dying wish that she not be replaced till a new president is installed in an trying to stress Republicans from filling her seat.
Although, some of the of those same Democrats are ignoring what she stated regarding packing the Supreme Court: that it has been a “bad idea” that she “not in all in favor of” doing.
“What does worry you?” NPR host Nina Totenberg inquired Ginsburg. “In case you’re not worried regarding the term limits, what are you worried regarding?”
“Well, what has been the, you mentioned—” Ginsburg responded.
“Adding the number, modifying the amount of justices—” Totenberg interjected.
“Oh, yes. Yes,” Ginsburg stated. “There is no fixed number within the Constitution, so this court has had as quite a few as 5 & up to 10. 9 appears to be a great number & it’s being that way for a long time.”
Ginsburg specifically named out the Democrat Party over the idea of packing the Supreme Court, informing that it’d undermine the court’s legitimacy because it’d “make the court appear partisan.”
“I’ve heard that there have been some of the citizens on the Democratic side who’d like to rise the amount of judges,” Ginsburg stated. “I think that has been a bad idea when President Franklin Delano Roosevelt attempted to pack the court, his own schedule has been for each justice who stays on the court past the age of 70, the president would’ve the authority to nominate the other justice. In case that schedule were efficient, the courts number would’ve swelled immediately from 9 to 15 & the president would’ve 6 appointments to make.”
“You mentioned in the court appearing partisan, well in case anything would make the court appear partisan, it’d be that—1 side informing, ‘when we’re in power, we’re going to enlarge the amount of judges, so we need to have extra citizens who’ll vote the way we need them to,’” Ginsburg concluded on the issue. “So, I’m not in all in favor of that resolution to what I watch as a temporary status.”
Ginsburg moved far away late last week in age 87 after losing her battle against her 5th bout with cancer. Ginsburg has been popularly praised for her toughness & grit in fighting the disease.
NPR recorded that Ginsburg “dictated” the following announcement to her granddaughter Clara Spera: “My most fervent wish is that I’ll not be replaced till a new president is installed.”
Independent Ladies’s Forum President Carrie Lukas slammed the notion that Ginsburg’s wish must be took into consideration in nominating a new Supreme Court justice, writing on Twitter: “I’ll add on RBG: In case records of her ‘last wish’ are true, afterwards she’d a fundamental misunderstanding of her character. She didn’t own her seat – merely had the privilege of filling it for numerous, numerous yrs. – & had no business telling the political branches just how it must be filled.”
