Hyderabad(Hyd): Up to 148 villages remain inundated in flood water of Godavari River, affecting 39,882 citizens within the dists of East Godavari & West Godavari. Over 19,000 citizens are evacuated to 120 current functional relief camps.
The Godavari River was in spate for the past 3 days amidst heavy rain that battered both the dists majorly. A 3rd level caveat was sounded in Dowlaiswaram, Rajamundry following a discharge of nearly 23,000 cusecs from Sir Arthur Cotton barrage.
The dist. collectors have briefed the CM Jagan Mohan Reddy on the status in both the dists. East Godavari dist. collector D Muralidhar Reddy stated that citizens, specially carrying ladies & kids, have already being evacuated.
Regarding 14,477 citizens are presently taking shelter in about 95 relief camps, & approximately 135 boats & 9 motorboats are stationed in different regions.
West Godavari collector Mutyala Raju Revu reported that about 5,000 citizens are presently taking shelter in 26 relief camps within the dist.. Regarding six SDRF groups, with one NDRF tandem, were deployed within the dists.
Jagan Mohan Reddy held an aerial survey of the flood-affected area of East Godavari & West Godavari dists on Tue., with Ministers Mekathoti Sucharitha & Perni Venkatramaiah. The CM declared INR.
2000 to each home within the affected dists. He also instructed the officials that citizens within the relief camps must gain all this required support & there must be no difficulty acquiring vital commodities.
