Kota (Raj): At the least 11 citizens, involving ladies & kids, have been died after a boat carrying over 30 devotees to a temple in Rajasthan(RJ)’s Bundi dist. capsized within the Chambal river here on Wed. in the morning, authorities stated.
3 citizens are still missing awhile 20 devotees have been rescued, they added further.
Belonging to the Khatoli Itawa region of Kota, they have been going to the Kamleshwar temple in Indergarh of Bundi to offer prayers.
The crash occurred about 8.45 am near Gotra village within the Khatoli PS (police station), regarding 110 kilometres from Kota dist. HQ (headquarters).
The depth of the river where the boat overturned is about 40-45 ft, an officer said, adding a rescue operation has been initiated by this SDRF & the NDRF.
At the least 11 citizens were died within the mishap in Khatoli awhile the search for 3 remaining is under way, Dist. Collector Ujjaval Rathore stated, adding that 20 citizens have been rescued.
As per regional locals, 35-50 citizens have been on board with 14 to 15 motorbikes when the crash occurred, he added further.
The dist. collector stated prima facie, a weak structure of the boat caused the mishap.
Region DSP Shubhkaran stated the bodies have been handed over to families after autopsy & they’ve registered a complaint over the boat’s Sailor & boss.
Describing the incident as sorrowful & unfortunate , Rajasthan(RJ) CM Ashok Gehlot on his own Twitter handle expressed condolences to the aggrieved families.
The chief minister declared a compensation of INR one lakh to the kin of every demised.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who’s an MP from that Kota-Bundi constituency of Rajasthan(RJ), too expressed grief over the incident.
Regional Congress MLA Ramnarayan Meena expressed sorrow over the tragedy & insisted that the relief money be rised.
I’ve written to CM Ashok Gehlot to rise the compensation, Meena informed PTI, alleging that carelessness by regional authorities resulted within the mishap.
When regional authorities have been aware of the movement of the boat, they must have reported their own seniors, he stated.
