Andhra CM launches scheme to drill 2 lakh free borewells

Amaravati: AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Mon. initiated a INR 2,340-crore scheme to drill Two lakh borewells free of cost for state’s farmers within the next 4 yrs..

“We’ll stand in help of farmers who don’t have irrigation water source different than borewell water. In all this constituencies, we schedule to drill Two lakh borewells. Not only that, we’ll also give casing pipes,” stated Reddy.

He stated the scheme — YSR Jala Kala — has been on his own party’s election manifesto.

In complaint a borwell fails to yield water, the CM stated, the govt going to try to drill 1 extra for such farmer.

Similarly, in case a farmer’s existing borewell fails, the other going to be drilled for him within the scheme.

Reddy stated the govt had also ruled to install free electric motors on land of eligible small & marginal farmers with the scheme.

“For small & marginal farmers, not only drilling bores, we’ll also go a step ahead & fix motors. Authorities stated this going to cost the other INR 1,600 cr,” he stated.

Recalling his own dad & previous CM YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s legacy of granting free power to farmers, Reddy stated he has been going 2 steps furthermore as his own son to drill free borewells.

Up to five lakh acres of farmland in Andhra is awaited to benefit from this scheme.
