Hyderabad(Hyd): The Indian Railways has presented a new advance booking ability for parcel space in its Luggage Rooms (SLRs) available on passenger carrying trains & Parcel Vans (VPS) attached to the normal trains (non-indented) & also in time-tabled parcel trains.
The advance booking of space in SLRs & VPs shall be allowed 120 days in advance, subject to payment of 10% of the overall freight by this client at the moment of booking. The Balance payment (90%) of the freight has to be made payment at the least 72 hours before the planned departure of the train for that the advance booking was made.
In case a client fails to pay the balance money as stipulated above i.e., at the least 72 hours before the planned departure of the train, the advance booking going to be canceled & advance freight going to be forfeited.
There were repeated appeals from that parcel clients for introduction advance booking ability of parcel space so as to schedule their own logistics in a best way that going to also produce extra traffic to Railways.
Accordingly, as of now Railway Board has allowed Zonal Railways to permit advance booking ability of parcel space in SLRs, VPs attached to passenger carrying trains & time tabled parcel trains.
The existing ability of advance indenting of parcel vans, to be attached to passenger – carrying trains & time tabled Parcel Special trains, going to also be allowed 120 days in advance on payment of prescribed Wagon Insist Registration Fee according to extant regulations. In complaint a client wishes to quash the booking, such cancellations must be finished at the least 72 hours before the planned departure of the train for that advance booking was made. In such a complaint, 50% of the sophisticated freight shall be refunded.
Although, there going to be no refund in case the elimination is finished after the deadline of 72 hours before the planned departure of the train. In the case of inability of the railway administration to give parcel space within the train on account(a/c) of elimination of train (or) any different reason, complete advance freight shall be refunded to the client.
Gajanan Mallya, Gen. Manager, SCR said that this ability immensely helps the traders, cargo aggregators & farmers, specially those who’re handling small quantities for transporting their own consignments in a safe, secure, economical & fastest mode according to the scheduled plan.
He also requested to rail clients to optimally use the advance booking system to schedule their own transportation needs & logistics according to their own comfort.
