Tampa Weather Radar: Severe Winds & Storms Damages Across Tampa Bay

A strong series of storms and winds moved across the Tampa Bay area leaving huge damage across its path.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Friday(1 AM)

The Sunshine Skyway Bridge has reopened after being closed due to high winds.

12:25 a.m. Friday

Florida Highway Patrol confirms I-275 has reopened following a crane collapse.

11:45 p.m. 

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of Polk and Sarasota counties.

11:33 p.m.

Intense storms caused a crane to collapse, shutting down a part of northbound I-275 in St. Petersburg, not far from Roosevelt Boulevard.

There were tens of thousands of people without electricity across Tampa Bay. TECO reported 13,295 without electricity and Duke Energy reported over 4,000 customers.

11:17 p.m.

Tornado warnings are issued for Sarasota and Manatee counties. They comprise the towns of:

Bayshore Gardens
11:14 p.m.

There has been A tornado warning issued for portions of Manatee and Hillsborough counties.

Included in these are:

Sun City Center
11:11 p.m.

A tree fell in Seminole, Florida with seven people inside to a house. Firefighters said one person was hurt.

The tornado warning for Hillsborough County was over.

10:51 p.m.

A tornado warning was issued for portions of Hillsborough County.

10:32 p.m.

A tornado warning was issued for portions of Pinellas County.

Indian Rocks beach
10:03 p.m.

There has been A severe thunderstorm warning issued for Pasco, Hillsborough, Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus counties. The warning will continue until 11 p.m.
9:29 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning was issued before 10:15 p.m. for Citrus County.

9:25 p.m.

A tornado watch was issued to the total Tampa Bay region.
