Protesters and police clashed again on Saturday in Uttar Pradesh, 15 people have already died during protests over the citizenship law over the last two days. A police post was set on fire by the angry protestors In Kanpur. In Rampur, protesters broke barricades and threw stones at the police, while the police responded with batons and tear gas.
Prohibitory orders were issued in areas around the Uttar Pradesh Bhavan in Delhi. For the seventh straight day, protests are still continuing at Jamia since last Sunday’s violence. Fifteen people have been arrested in connection to Friday’s clashes in Old Delhi, in which more than 35 people were injured.

The cops used batons on the protesters who threw stones and set fire to a police post. The situation is tense and mobile internet and broadband has been cut across Rampur after clashes broke out in the Idgah area.
Thirteen people dead across the state
Thirteen People have died in districts such as Saharanpur, Deoband, Shamli, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Sambhal, Aligarh, Bahraich, Ferozabad, Kanpur, Bhadohi and Gorakhpur, some parts of this state are under prohibitory orders. UP police has denied anyone dying in police firing.
More protests in the offing
Sunday will see more protests in several cities including the national capital. Congress has scheduled to hold a protest at Rajghat and the party leader Rahul Gandhi is expected to attend the protest. Jantar Mantar, the capital’s designated protest site will also witness protests against CAA and NRC.
Bhim Army
Bhim Army chief Chandrashekhar Azad led a huge protest held at the Jama Masjid and requested the people to march to Jantar Mantar. Defying prohibitory orders hundreds of protestors took to streets in the evening. Sources said at least 36 people, including eight policemen, were taken to the Lok Nayak hospital with injuries.
